About me
Welcome! I am Jiwon Byun, a PhD candidate in Macro Organizational Behavior at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, advised by Glenn Carroll and Adina Sterling.
I study how culture and structure jointly shape attention, evaluation, and strategic outcomes in digital and global markets. My work examines how actors navigate segmented audiences by designing cross-cultural affiliations and adapting to local audience profiles over time, showing when attention translates into recognition and sustained performance. I use large-scale panel data, causal inference, computational text and network analysis, and agent-based modeling, with applications in digital cultural markets, entrepreneurship, and scientific collaboration.
I will be joining Frankfurt School of Finance & Management as an assistant professor of Strategy as of January 2027.
